So I officially broke my no glitter rule and am sure that I will be full of glitter until next year! Our door is amazing, and I love our students creativity! And most of all, how they work together.

Alright, so the competition has been started, and yes we have a tree on our door! Because... like I say, we rock! Grade fours today participated in EPIC with Constable Bohrn (yep, Mme Bohrn's amazing husband). Grade threes - we are working on a tour brochure about a festival in Tunisia. We are off and running with fractions and really getting the hang of comparing fractions all the way to tenths - please ask us about these! We have been challenged to a door decorating contest. A valid point was brought up... I am not sure what the prize is but if it is on collaboration we are winning. I am not surprised but I am definitely proud of how we had a 20 person discussion of ideas and thoughts and brought it all into one themed door! I mean... this is a huge task! This took us several days of discussing in little groups and writing but the process is pretty incredible! Today we worked on fractions, on subtraction facts, synonyms and antonyms and types of sentences. Wow! We also worked on our portfolios! Wow! Amazing work mes amis! and the biggest news of all... you have earned an AWESOME DAY - movie, pyjamas, popcorn and teddy bear which does not need to be a bear. I am super impressed with you all (except someone left me hanging today at the end of the day ! :O lol ) I had a lot of fun with you in the gym as well! Thanks for being such an amazing class! I really love that I get to spend every day with you and you are all so happy and energetic! So as I am sure you heard, I dropped my phone in water, as a result I am not able to take photos currently!
My apologies. I assure you, we are doing nothing but amazing things up here in room thirty though! Today grade fours learned about recycling in our community which was filled with excitement. Many of you came back with many interesting things to tell me about. I am sad I didn't get to go this year, but I did have lots of fun hanging back with the grade threes. Sometimes I forget I teach different grades until we have to separate. I heard everyone was very well behaved! I am so impressed with that still as the evening lingers on I am giving back one of you letters you lost at the end of the day. Boy oh boy, I was sure hoping for a movie day this week but it isn't looking good Mes Amis! You have a few more days to pull it together. Alright - so we did some research on La Tunisie! That turned out to be harder than we thought. It is important to read the question before just filling in the blanks. Answers are all found on the links on the "links/apps" page. Keep up the awesome work ! I am so excited for the rest of the year! Alright so lots of news! Lots of things coming up! This week - on Thursday we will be headed to the Grand Slam Curling at the Arena - Thursday AM if you would like to join us we will be leaving the school around 930.
Thursday, November 21 we will be going skating in the morning. I would love it if there are some parents that could come help tie skates and feel free to jump on the ice as well! We skate at 11. Report cards go out on the 18! Alright Alright! I admit, I have not been on the ball with the website this past week! I apologize. We have been up to really cool stuff and the reason for not writing is certainly not for lack of content.
Today is our Remembrance Day Ceremony and it should be a day of finishing up assignments and getting organized for next week - off to a clean start. This past week we have finished up our Unit in addition and subtraction - or what I thought would be finishing up. The reality is that lots of us still need a lot of practice with our basic math facts. We just can't move on to multiplication and division if we can't add and subtract quickly. Please make sure you are working on your xtramath so we can master these math facts ... like 7+3 Well another Houleween has come and gone! Thankfully the weekend is almost here so students can recharge after a sugar crash today I am sure. Some amazing costumes and some amazing fun had yesterday. Often we end up watching movies and this year we played board games. I wasn't too sure how it was all going to work out but leave it to the students to self organize and govern their games and they were absolutely unbelievable! There is something magical that happens right around this time of year... and I can see it definitely present this past week : students becoming more independent, more confident, kinder, and truly trying to make the classroom they spend their days in a happy place where learning happens! Thank you students to a great Halloween... I mean Houleween, and I very much am excited for the rest of this year together!
