Alright so here's the thing... I looked into some new cameras and the newer models will be arriving in October and well... I know that my blog is pretty interesting all on its own, but I am stoked to be putting pictures. So by November I will be posting amazing photos and we will likely be starting to create some awesome videos by then as well. Patience :)
Today we did our first real art project. I say real like that because unless you get messy and it takes a whole team to clean up I don't really think it is art :P I like paint and pastels and... creativity. The creativity comes in the moments between the brush and the paint colour choosing.
We learned a little bit about Monet and Impressionism and are now creating our own awesome piece of works. We did not finish but that is my fault as we had to have a snack break. Yes it is true I did bring treats today but only because I was sitting at home reading late last night thinking of how exhausting it is to be doing work, even reading, in the heat. I was thinking of my amazing students who power through it every day and do so with fewer complaints than I often have. I just think it is absolutely outstanding and while not all the students liked the treat I choose (fruit bars with Real fruit!)... I think the gesture was appreciated by all.
Students started their spelling booklets today - with our official first spelling test on Tuesday.
Spelling words can be found on the homework page, but also games can be played on the spellingcity site under my username (rmlhoule). Chose the green or the yellow list based on what colour paper you received today. There is also now a SpellingCity APP! Pretty rad if you ask me!
Please continue to use mathletics during our trial so I can see if this is something I find a way to fund.
...what else did we do today??... boy if it is hard for me I can only imagine how hard it is for the students to remember as the day wears on!
We will be bringing our Flat Stanley's home this week so get prepared to be little journalers... and not lame authors :P
